Predictable Hard and Soft Tissue Integration in Modern Implantology

July 11 - 12, 2026 @ The St. Regis Toronto

Day 1: The Biological Foundation & Surgical Precision

Beyond the Extraction: The Science of Site Preservation
Moving past "filling a hole." Understanding the biology of the extraction socket and the "Why, When, and How" of the protocol to prevent ridge collapse

The Blueprint: Digital Radiographic Diagnostics & Strategic Planning
Utilizing 3D imaging not just for anatomy, but for prosthetic reverse-planning. We will discuss case selection—identifying the "Green Lights" vs. "Red Flags."

Macro-Design & Micromorphology: What Implant do I choose?
A deep dive into implant geometry. Why the Tissue Level or Bone Level design creates a mechanical advantage, and how to choose the right diameter and length for long-term stability.

Hands-On Lab I: The Regenerative Toolkit
Practical application of GBR (Guided Bone Regeneration) techniques in fresh extraction sites and deficient ridges using biomaterials.

Hands-On Lab II: Precision Placement
Mastering the Thommen surgical kit. Focused drill protocols and achieving primary stability in varying bone densities.

Day 2: The Esthetic Interface & Long-Term Management

The Pink Interface: Soft Tissue Mastery Around Implants
Bone sets the stage, but the soft tissue plays the lead role. Techniques for increasing keratinized tissue and managing the "Emergence Profile" to ensure the implant looks like a natural tooth.

Prosthetic Synergy: Introduction to Implant Restorations
An overview of the restorative portfolio. Understanding the connection—screw-retained vs. cement-retained.

Sculpting the Gingiva: The Custom Healing Abutment
How to use temporary components to "train" the soft tissue before the final impression is ever taken.

Hands-On Lab III: The Art of the Abutment
Fabricating chair-side custom healing abutments and mastering suturing techniques for optimal primary closure.

Crisis Management: Navigating Surgical & Prosthodontic Complications
What to do when things go wrong. From managing dehiscence and loss of integration to mechanical prosthetic failures.

The Maintenance Mandate: Ensuring a Lifetime of Success
A brief module on hygiene protocols and monitoring for peri-implantitis to protect the patient's investment and your reputation.

Dr. Andrew Lim - Prosthodontist

MSc, Board Certified Prosthodontist

Dr Andrew Lim received his dental degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He then practiced in government and private sectors and taught at the dental school in Singapore as a part time faculty member. A constant and growing desire to practice dentistry at the highest level led to his decision to pursue specialist training in Prosthodontics at the University of Southern California (USC). He received his specialty certificate in Advanced Prosthodontics from Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of the University of Southern California (USC).

Dr. Gazelle Crasto - Periodontist

MSc, PhD, DDS, MSc (Perio), Board Certified Periodontist, FRCDC

Dr. Gazelle Jean Crasto embarked on her academic journey in dentistry with a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Toronto.  Seeking to bridge the gap between research and clinical application, Dr. Crasto obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery from New York University, graduating with Honors in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. She completed her speciality training with a certificate and Masters of Science in periodontology at Columbia University's College of Dental Medicine.
